Loft conversion and Refurbishment, Bates Road Brighton

Updated: Dec 16, 2018

Day 3/4 - The ashlar wall is built and birdsmouth cut into the existing rafters; this allows us to remove the first purlin and spread the roof load on to the new beam. In this instance, the wall has been designed to allow for a 4" soil pipe to fit behind, negating the need for a macerator. We can now connect directly into the existing rear soil pipe by running under the floor. Lastly, we support the entire roof load and cut into the rafters at the rear; this gives us room to install a double timber lintel in order to hang the second run of floor joists.
